Services for Clifford Lee Baird, 59, Callaway, will be at 10:30 am, today, Feb 11, 2004, at the United Methodist Church in Callaway with Rev Gerald Schwarz and Pastor Dean Haidle officiating Burial will be in Sand Valley Cemetery near Callaway with military honors by Fort Riley 568 Engine Company from Fort Riley, Kan
Cliff died Thursday, Feb 5, 2004, at the Grand Island Veteran's Home in Grand Island, after a short but courageous battle with cancer
He was born Aug 3, 1944, in Hull, IA, to Alan and Helen (Fitzer) Baird He attended grade school in IA and Minnesota graduating from high school in 1962 from Oliva, Minn
 He entered the United States Army in January of 1963, serving in Korea and Vietnam While serving in the United States Army, he specialized in auto technology He was honorably discharged in January 1966
On Aug 10, 1965, he married Linda Cudaback in Callaway To this union two children were born, Rick and Misty The family lived in Hardy and Superior for several years where Cliff was employed by Bill Morris Ford and Alexander Motors He also worked for Valley Building
In 1982, the family moved to Callaway and Cliff worked for Ranchland Ford in Broken Bow In 1984, he realized his lifelong dream when he opened C&L Automotive, operating the business until his health began to fail in 2002
He was a member of the Callaway United Methodist Church He thoroughly enjoyed listening to Co music and playing his guitar His grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy
Survivors include his wife, Linda Baird, Callaway; a son, Rick (Shelly) Baird, Omaha; a daughter, Misty (Roger) Keim, Cozad; brothers, Steve Baird, Raymond, Stan (Marilyn) Baird, Eugene, Ore, and Galen (Dee) Baird, Omaha; sisters, Cheryl Baird Davidson, Fairbaulth, Minn, and Kathy (Steve) Harriery, Hartford, Wis; grandchildren, Ashley and Elisha Keim, Jessica Baird, and Brandon and Kara Stanton; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and an infant sister
Memorials are suggested to the Baird family
